Week 12.

One Saturday morning, Lando asks his mother if he can go to the lake to catch some fish. Lando’s mother tells him that it is unsafe to go to the lake and asks him to stay and help her clean the house instead. But Lando sneaks out and goes to the lake anyway. He was able to catch a big fish. He hurries home but slips on the rocks and hurts himself. Lando goes home and apologizes to his mother for disobeying her. Lando’s mother forgives him and, together, they cook the fish that he caught.

A little boy looks outside the window eagerly waiting for his parents. He gets excited upon hearing a tricycle pass by but no mother or father comes down from it. He looks at other members of his family doing his or her task to help out in the house. Despite this, he still feels sad without his mother and father. The other family members see the little boy and comfort him. They explain why mother and father need to work. Suddenly, the moment that the little boy has been waiting for has arrived—his mother and father are back from work! They happily spend the night together.

A picky eater, Blanca eats only longganisa. One day, she goes home crying because her team lost a relay in school. She could not run as fast as the other children because she does not eat vegetables or drink milk. The next day, mother packs her fish and vegetables for lunch but she would not eat her food. She goes home very hungry, and smells the food that mother has prepared. She is so hungry that she eats the pansit, the hot soup and the meat and finds everything delicious! From then on, she eats different kinds of food that give her energy.

Week 26.

Five friends in the same Kindergarten class belong to different religious groups. As they share the differences of their religions to the class, from their different places of worship to their different practices, the five boys -- Ahmed, Nanhai, Chris, Roly and Rod -- show that they are still very good friends who enjoy doing things together.

Week 29.

Author: Mary Rose Jucar

Mon and Marie always play and do a lot of things together. One day, Marie tells Mon that she is going away to live in another place. She describes to Mon that to go to that faraway place she is moving to, she would have to ride a ship to cross the sea and fly in an airplane. They spend the rest of the day playing with paper boats and paper planes and promise never to forget each other even if they are in different places.
